O’Connor Marketing Investigates the Passion Behind Entrepreneurship

After research was released into the extent to which entrepreneurs care about their businesses, O’Connor Marketing has launched their own investigation into the passion that drives entrepreneurial success.

A study that was published in the journal Human Brain Mapping reveals that the feelings entrepreneurs have for their businesses are similar to those parents have for their children. Researchers at the University of Helsinki used functional MRI scans to analyse the brain activity of successful entrepreneurs and fathers. Sydney-based outsourced sales and marketing company O’Connor Marketing is not surprised by the results and believes that in a way, businesses are like children. They need to be nurtured and developed, must be a priority and have time invested in them if they are to thrive. O’Connor Marketing adds that success in business can only be achieved through true passion and care.

For this study, researchers analysed 42 men, 21 entrepreneurs and 21 fathers. The average age of the companies was 4.5 years; the average age of the fathers’ first children was 5.6 years. Participating entrepreneurs were asked to view pictures of their own firm’s and another firm’s logo, products, business ideas or key staff, while the fathers were shown pictures of their own and a familiar child; 30 seconds for each photo. O’Connor Marketing finds the results remarkable. When fathers looked at the pictures of their own children, researchers found it deactivated the parts of the brain responsible for the theory of mind and the social assessment of other people. Similar deactivations were found among business owners who were very closely attached to their company. This research confirms O’Connor Marketing’s view that businesses must be cared for and looked after to grow successfully.

O’Connor Marketing has continued their investigation and highlights that a business can only thrive with passion and a sense of purpose. “No matter what you do in life, if you do it with enthusiasm and passion, something magical happens”, explains O’Connor Marketing. The firm points out that when someone finds their passion, work flows and becomes enjoyable, fatigue goes away and hours just seem to fly. “Ask yourself what you enjoy doing. It doesn’t matter if you are not an expert in the field. Information is available, just do your research and get started. People who find their passion create an inexplicable amount of energy and a strong drive to make things happen, just like entrepreneurs do”, adds O’Connor Marketing.

Based in Sydney, O’Connor Marketing is an outsourced sales and marketing specialist that conducts promotional B2B and B2C campaigns for their clients. The firm knows what it means to be passionate about what they do and continues to reflect this energy in their company culture. O’Connor Marketing believes that their current success is based on their enthusiasm and passion, something that has not been unnoticed by their clients, who have requested to be represented by O’Connor Marketing in at least two further Australian cities within the next year.
